About carousel-o-pedia

A growing, community-edited reference to carousels, their carved figures, and their history.

Explore the carousel directory, follow individual figures, and help document seating layouts and the sources behind them. This is an early research project: entries are incomplete, and a missing figure or unknown seat is a gap in our documentation, not proof that something is absent from a carousel.

Published totals and mapped inventories may describe different dates or configurations. Check source notes and official venue information, especially when planning a visit. This is an independent project, not an official site for the carousels listed.

Contribute

Anyone can read. Editing is currently invite-only while a small founding-editor group helps refine the site. Invitations grant either site-wide editing or access to one carousel and its figures and seats.

Good first contributions include adding a source, correcting a name, recording a known location, or documenting one figure on a carousel you know well. Read the editor guide and contribution terms before joining.

If you received an invitation, use its private link to create an account with your email address, a public display name, and a password. Invitation links expire after 14 days; do not post or forward them publicly.

Invitations, corrections, and help

A public contact route is not available yet. For now, if you are already in touch with the person who invited you or shared the site, use that existing conversation to request an invitation, suggest a correction without an account, report a concern, or ask for help. Otherwise, please check back here for contact details.

For corrections, include the page URL, the proposed correction, and a source. Do not share passwords or invitation links in public discussions.
